Swan 2 vs Shooting Stars

This Saturday Hants 2 played an intense fixture against Shooting Stars in Portsmouth. I think it was safe to say that we were all immensely proud of how we performed as a team this week, with high heads and excellent sportsmanship throughout the duration of the game. The first quarter was incredibly fast paced, yet we kept composed and built up each centre and turn over superbly to end the first quarter a only a goal behind at 13-12. Throughout the second our fitness and positivity motivated us to keep driving to succeed turnovers however the rapid pace of our oppositions play resulted in a 6 goal lead by half time. During the third quarter the oppositions incredible goal shooter did not miss a single shot, and their overall fast paced and composed match play as a squad allowed them to develop a mighty lead. Despite this we continued to push ourselves, with our fantastic circle defence jumping for every rebound, the centre court players were driving for every possible interception and the shooters worked hard to shake their defenders off, leaving the final score at one goal under a scoring half of the oppositions total goals. However we have taken many positives away from this game all agreeing that lots of moments throughout really displayed our progression as a team since the start of the season some parts being the best we have played together so far. As well as this we have learnt that there are a few things we need to keep working on during training sessions, such as discipline, ball placement/ accuracy and building up centre passes and turnovers to get to goal. We look forward to playing Shooting Stars again after Christmas as the match allowed us to really dig deep and push through, leaving knowing we have made great progress so far over the season!
