This was a really exciting game in which the girls very nearly produced a fantastic comeback after being 24-11 down at half time. A thrilling third quarter saw the deficit reduced to just two goals, spooking the Applemore ladies who started arguing amongst themselves, and setting up a final period that genuinely could have gone either way.
After a first half in which the score didn't reflect the share of opportunities, the third quarter performance produced an incredible 16-5 scoreline thanks to complete turnaround in Platinums' shot conversion and some dogged defensive work to break up Applemore's previously relentless attacks.
A head injury to GK Rochelle five minutes into the fourth period saw the game suspended for a short time, before restarting on an adjacent court whilst she continued to received treatment. The momentum of the third quarter was understandably lost, and Applemore secured victory despite an exceptional effort from the girls.
