20-3 against Swaythling U13s

Despite the chill and the rain, the Aquas were raring to go in their first match of the season against an older and taller team. Swaythling opened the scoring with a confident shot from their GS, but the Aquas soon rallied, with both Sienna and Emilia repeatedly finding the net, to end the first quarter 6-1 up. The remaining quarters followed a similar pattern. It was clear that while the opponents were older and taller, they were less experienced and not as quick on the ball; even on their centre passes the ball rarely got down to their D, with key interceptions from Zofia, Emilia (now in GD) and Ella sending the ball back up the court. Erin and Charlotte seemed to manage to be permanently be in a space and linked up well with our Centres, Emily and Harriet, to feed the ball to our shooters. The shooting got better and better, with Sienna (and Izzy in the final quarter) hammering home some fine long-range shots to end the game well-deserved winners at 20-3. Well done everybody!

Team: Sienna, Harriet, Charlotte (c), Ella, Isabel, Erin, Emily P, Zofia, Emilia

Player of the match: Sienna
