Senior SR team start 2018 strongly

A sensational start to the 2018 year from Swan Regional saw them beat Eagles. Today saw the highly competitive game against top of the table Brize Jets. From the start Swan were on top, turning over ball and putting pressure all the way through the court.
The defensive partnership between K Drew and E Medlock rattled their strong attacking partnerships in the first instance, making them miss shots and having to continuously rebound. With S Daniel and B Horler in the first quarter ensuring that pressure was put around the circle edge forcing the longer shot.

The latter part of the first quarter showed great energy and great commitment to be patient with the ball in attack waiting for players to open up in the circle and T McHale kept her cool putting shots in left, right and centre.

The half saw Swan up 25-19 going into the third and we knew Brize would come back at us strong. However Swan were stronger, the consistency through the court and the fight for each other was fantastic. Any loose ball was chased down by Swan and help from the back from R Tourino saw patience up the court and the commitment to be patient around the D with N Pollock and D Spurge worked wonders in order to help open up the attacking partnership of T McHale and M Curson. The end of the third saw a closer score line with only 3 in it.

The fourth quarter was something like no other. Swan started off loud (mainly thanks to S Daniel!) defensively strong and fought for everything. Goal after goal Swan saw an enormous lead of 12 open up, a little more relaxed and maybe a bit more tired Brize saw an opening and got 3/4 on the bound. However, Swan got back their focus, punishing Brize for their mistakes. A fantastic, competitive game.
