Hannah Kimber

Welcome to our new segment of Swannie Spotlight! This segment will introduce you to some of our amazing Swannies across the club and give you an insight into their experience of Swan of Netball Club and a background into their netball career thus far. Our first Swannie under the spotlight is Hannah who has recently started at university...

Name: Hannah Kimber
Positions: GA/GS/GK

What is your netballing background?
I joined Swan when I was 8 years old, because my teacher at primary school said I should join a club. I am grateful for this because without her I wouldn’t be playing at the level I am now. When I was 12 I was selected into the Satellite Netball Academy. I did this for 2 years then moved up to County level for a year. In my 10 years at the club I played in the Southampton local leagues until I was 14 when I was playing in the Hampshire 2 league. I then started to play south region U16, then on to U19. I was in the U19 south region squad for 2 years. In the second year I started to play in the senior south region team. This was a great experience as it enabled me to become a better player. I also helped coach the U10’s then the U9’s for 2 years which I really enjoyed. After this I trialled for one of the Severn Stars u17 hubs. After a year of being in this I was selected for the U17 team for the NPL tournament as a training partner.

Who are you playing for now?
I am now currently in the Severn Stars U19 NPL squad for this season and in the 1st team at Gloucester Uni, playing in the Premier Division.

Who is your inspiration?
My inspiration is Beth Cobden because she has been injured a lot recently and missed out on the Netball World Cup but she has not given up and is working hard to get back to where she was. This inspires me to keep working hard as things may not always go your way.

What do you most enjoy about Swan Netball Club?
What I enjoy most about Swan is that its like a family. Everyone gets on and I have made best friends for life!

Thank you Hannah for giving us an insight into your netball experiences. Best of luck with the rest of your season with Severn Stars and Gloucester. Thank you reading and we hope you have enjoyed our first Swannie spotlight!
