Hampshire 2 v Andover Arrows

Hants 2 faced Andover Arrows this Sunday. Both teams started off strong, keeping possession on their own centres. Attack was strong down court making good use of the cuts and drives we practiced at training. Our defense was strong and made some great tips and turnovers, but Arrows began to pull ahead, winning the quarter by 3.

We started off the second quarter with some changes in defence, as we saw Jenny move into the circle and Maz move out to WD. Some great turnovers were made in defence and midcourt took on board Nic’s advice, improving the transition, allowing us to effectively reach circle edge. Full court defense was strong and we gained a 3 goal lead at half time.

In quarter 3 we saw Claudia come into GS and the intensity increased. Arrows tightened their defence in and around the circle, but we used resets effectively to help maintain possession. Pressure in defence continued and we finished the third quarter ahead by one.

The last quarter was tense and everyone kept their composure despite the strong and physical defensive play from Arrows. Both teams made turnovers and took them to goal and we ended the game winning 46-45. It was a really close game but everyone implemented everything we’ve worked on in training and the win was well deserved.
