Hampshire 2 v Complete Netball Academy

First game of the season, lots of new players and a first game clash we were looking forward to.
First quarter started off well, both teams were holding their own in attack, Swan were patient and didn’t force the ball in and made some turnovers but CN started to pull away with first quarter ending 14-11
Into the second quarter and a few tactical points from Nic and we knew exactly what we needed to do - more driving forward onto the ball, stronger passes and be stronger in defence to force them to work hard and we did exactly that to bring the game back to 24-24 at half time.
A few changes and new combinations on court, some excellent game play and intensity was there throughout but their attack were seemless and their defence soon started to tighten up and read our play and pick off a few balls. Third quarter ending 30-38 to CN.
Onto the 4th quarter and focus was to continue with good movement down court and to take our time in the attacking third. We tightened up on their attack and made a few more interceptions, everyone kept on working hard right to the end but unfortunately we couldn’t bring the score any closer with the final score ending 54-39 to CN.
Everyone played really well for first game of the season, new connections need a bit more time to cement and more communication in defence and we will have them next time.
