Pearls U16's win against Tongham in the Hampshire League

A squad of 9, missing a couple of our defence, made for an exciting and challenging match against an experienced Tongham side at Testlands Hub.

In Q1 the team made some good turnovers and Eloisa and Abi R worked hard in the circle to convert them, overcoming a tall GK with an excellent reach. In defence, Hannah K switched from her normal shooting position to offer some height in the circle and supporting Alice who worked tirelessly and fiercely. End Q1 13-9.

In Q2 mid court of Abi A, Hannah B and Emily marked closely and continued to intercept and disrupt Tongham's flow. More accurate shooting led to a HT score of 23-17.

Tongham made some changes at HT, they only had 7 players and moved around and came out hard and made up some of the deficit scoring 5 in a row, but Swan pulled back and finished Q3 36-28. Hannah K moved ends in Q3 and shot some great goals whilst Charlotte came on as Gk and stood strong and moved well.

Q4 Tongham were tiring and Swan exploited it, Eloisa coming back on and sinking some lovely long shots. Sophie moved from WD to C to give Abi A a rest and worked hard across the court. 17 goals scored this quarter giving a final score of 53-38.

Coaches comments : An excellent squad performance. You worked tirelessly for each other and remained focused and determined.

Both players player and opposition player went to Hannah K who worked hard in both circles, showing commitment and good decision making.
