Our U16 performed brilliantly in a fast paced match against an experienced team, in our third league game of the season. It took a few minutes for the girls to settle in the first quarter but they soon got into their stride with some accurate shooting from Eloisa and Hannah. The opposition were very quick to convert any turnovers, and at the end of the first quarter they were just ahead 20-15.
In the second quarter we switched our shooting pair, and Hannah moved to GK to provide some height in defence. Our opposition also made changes and we struggled to feed our circle, finishing the quarter 33-19 down.
Q3 was more evenly matched with both teams scoring 9 goals. We made some good defensive interceptions and had good passages of play through the mid-court.
In the final quarter the girls continued to work hard for every ball, particularly Emily off our centre pass and their combined effort paid off and we won the quarter 11-9, with the final score 49-39 to Ariels Angels. The girls showed brilliant spirit and versatility throughout.
Player of the match chosen by the opposition was Emily, players player was Hannah.
