Topaz on tour!

What a fantastic weekend of netball. Saturdays matches were all played with enthusiasm and energy resulting in 4 really good wins( particularly enjoyed watching them beat Mk Netters) which put Topaz at the top of their group for the plate on Sunday.
All 3 morning matches on Sunday were played brilliantly with everyone of the girls wanting to win and do well. The first 2 games were relatively easy wins 7-1 against Barr Beacons and 7-3 against Flames, which left the final game against AP Saints who also had 2 wins which left everything to play for. The girls knuckled down and played their hearts out and got the win, 5-2, they needed to progress to the quarter finals.
Quarter final against Magnets, another strong win 5-3, and onto the Semi final against Ribble Valley. This match was very close, 2-1 at half time causing much angst and raised blood pressure,especially as the score line went from 3-1 to 4-1 to 4-2 then 4-3 as Ribble tried to pull it back but luckily for Swan the whistle blew before Ribble could score again!
What an achievement to end up in the final of the plate competition. The girls should be so proud of their performance, sadly lost at the end to a very strong Conquerors Team but to become runners up in the competition which started with 43 U13 teams is a huge achievement in itself.
