Silver medals for Swan Coral! by Vicky Halliden.

Match report for Swan Coral at the Jelly Tournament at Portsmouth High School . Saturday 22 October 2016.
Even with the parking restrictions all the girls turned up with plenty of time and energy to start warming up for the afternoon's matches. We knew we had four matches that weren't going to be easy and we had to focus and ensure we gave 100%.
First match against Solent was first match of the tournament and the girls had worked on their warm up drills and shooting with enough confidenceto go on court and dominate. They worked well as a team and down the court in both attack and defence. It showed with fabulous teamwork and great shooting, strong defence and lovely centre court play. We won 3-1.
Second match against Jellybabies, Jilly arrived and began to impart her years of experience, ensuring the girls maintained their focus. We knew the day was going to be long, given we had four matches over three and a half hours. The team worked well once again, showing how they work well in varied combinations, combined with thoughtful play. Turning over any mistake made by the opposition and again came away with a win 5-2.
Third match in and focus was required more than ever as Jilly had the inside knowledge that this team was the one to beat, if not emulate. Poole were a very strong team, with consistently accurate shooters and with very physical centre court players. The defence was very strong too and they made very few errors. We learnt lots from this match- to work on getting in front of our players, and hunt down the ball. The margins were small, but Poole came out as winners 5-2.
Final and fourth match. played slightly later than scheduled and was a match the girls were looking forward to most. It was Weston Park Blades. This is when we needed to concentrate on gettingthe win, digging deep and playing oour game. Again the team worked well after some initial nerves - the first goal taking 3 minutes- shooting was accurate once we got the first few goals in and centrecourt play was strong and accurate, with the defence as always working well together. Coral won 4-1.
Final Score: Runners up for Swan u11 Coral. Well done girls!
