Amethysts lose to Coral in U11 Swan derby

The play was fast and furious from the off, with goals mainly going to each team with centre pass in the first quarter. By half time, though, feisty defence and impeccable shooting had put Corals comfortably ahead - a position they managed to maintain to the end. Amy and Holly battled bravely in defence against opponents a head taller than themselves and Emily, Jess and Erin were quick to capitalise on turnovers to get the ball down to our shooters. The frantic pace meant that play sometimes got a little wild, however, which Corals were able to capitalise on. In the fourth quarter, with Jess in WA, the game slowed considerably, especially when one of the Corals unfortunately had to retire injured leaving them with six players, but the scoreline was unchanged.
