Encouraging to see better strategic play

With coach Anita away, Jilly kindly stepped in and gave the girls some valuable coaching on linking passes effectively before play began. So it was slightly disappointing to see all that go out of the window as soon as they stepped on court as the players passed the ball around without much thought. Still, feisty play from Jess and continual interceptions from Ruby and Emily W kept the play mainly in our third, where superb shooting from Georgia (in her first Swan match) and Sienna gave us a commanding 11-0 lead by half time. In the third quarter the girls really started putting more thought into what they were doing and we saw some great linking play between the midcourt players feeding the ball into our D, where Sienna didn't hesitate to add to our goal tally. Our opponents, though considerably less experienced players, kept the pressure on and were unlucky to have a goal disallowed in this quarter - it wasn't always easy for the umpires to make themselves heard! In the fourth quarter, now 15 goals up, some players swapped positions, with Sienna and Georgia moving into defence and Ruby into GA. Ravens never gave up and had a couple more chances this quarter, but in the end neither side scored and the game finished 15-0.

Player of the match (chosen by our opponents): Georgia

Well done everybody, and thanks very much to Jilly for stepping in to coach!
