Rubies lose too Matrix 39 -56

On Saturday we played Team Matrix, which we knew would be a tough game. I asked the girls to go out with high intensity and that is exactly what they did! The defence were against a tall shooter so collectively Niah, Alicia, Lilla and Maddie did everything that they could to unsettle her.

The mid court fed the ball well to the shooters who had a tough time against some firm defence. Claudia and Alex worked well to feed the shooters whilst being supported by Daisy at WD. The swing work was excellent, and this continued as Freya and Aisling came on from the bench.

Gracie had some good movement and some excellent shots put up, and Skye and Sophie offered a lot of variety at GS which kept the defence guessing. Week in week out I ask the girls to shoot out of their comfort range and that is exactly what they did. With some clever fakes and bounce passes to each other they were able to work the ball within the circle.

The turn overs through the court were testament to everyone's hard work to turn over the ball. We were able to turn over the ball sometimes in our goal third and convert which meant the score stayed closer than we thought it would be.

I was really pleased with the squad performance; by far this was their best performance all year and I was very proud of all the girls.

Lilla was awarded player of the match by Matrix and Claudia got players player from her teammates both well deserved.
