Ambers U15s 29 V Sapphires U16s 34

This was only Ambers' second match of the season against the Swan U16 team, Sapphires. Sapphires got off to a strong start scoring a quick first goal and went onto win the quarter 9 goals to 5. Lessons were learned and the second quarter was much better for Ambers. There was good pressure midfield, causing Sapphires to make mistakes. Passing was quicker within triangles, everyone was driving forward to get ball side and defence was more assertive. Sapphires won 8 goals to 7 with the half-time scrore at 12 - 17 to Sapphires. Ambers massively stepped up their game again in the third quarter with a number of fearless interceptions by GK, Orla and some consistent shooting by GS, Dolly and GA, Claudia. Coach, Jackie described it as an 'awesome display' with all players doing what had been asked of them, winning the quarter 12 goals to 8. With Sapphires leading by just one goal, they needed to enlist their top players to combat Ambers' attack and went on to win the match 34 - 29. Jackie said, "I am so proud of all the players and I am so excited for this team as it has so much potential". Ella at WA was chosen by Sapphires as their Player of The Match, while Claudia was the Coach's Player of the Match for her movement and decision-making in the D. Well done Ambers!
