Swan come out strong in the second half to take the win

After the disappointment of a cancelled game a fortnight ago, the girls were raring to go today. They started strongly and with purpose against a strong CD Phoenix side. The first quarter saw the teams going goal for goal, with small mistakes being capitalised on by each side. The quarter finished 9-8 to Swan.

The same seven stayed on court for the second quarter and it followed the same pattern as the first with Swan working hard on and off the ball to win possession. Emily and Nancy worked hard in attack to feed the circle whilst our defensive pair of Hannah and Chloe kept up the pressure at the other end. The half time score was 19-8 to CDP.

After half time Swan came out with purpose and Alice and Chloe particularly, won lots of intercepts in the centre and goal thirds, with the new shooting pairing of Grace (playing up) and Hannah working well to convert our opportunities. We showed good discipline in the defensive circle and closed down the WA and C effectively. 34-28 to Swan at the end of Q3

In the final quarter we continued to pressure and intercept the ball and extended our lead to 47-34.

It was an intense game to watch, with both teams contesting well for the ball, but played in the right spirit. Thank you to the umpires who said what a lovely teams we were!

Player of the match to Alice
Players player was awarded to Alice and Grace!
