U13, U14 and U16 teams have a day out and play some super netball

The U16 were made up with players from several teams and worked hard together, playing some strong opposition. They had 6 games across the day but did not progress to the Semis, despite some outstanding netball. U13 Topaz were there in force and were unlucky not to get through at the end of the round robin section. The match report for the U14 is below.

On a dull October Saturday, the U14s played in the Poole tournament at Sir David English Netball Centre. There were 2 pools of 7 teams where we had to play 6 games and Rubies finished the round robin top of their group. Some excellent defending with Maddie, Lilla and Daisy, particularly on defensive centre passes turning over the ball for the shooters.

The shooting circle worked well with the attack swinging the pool into a ball side option to Sophie, Skye and Gracie where the rebound positions were text book. There were some clever passes in from Alex, Aisling, Freya and Claudia who played in lots of different combinations and worked well in all.

Unbeaten, they booked themselves a place in the semi final playing the runners up of Pool 2. Although the girls were nervous, they kept their cool winning 6-3 against NDNC Lightning. Great to have the support from the U13s to spur us on.

The final was against Poole NC, the tournament organisers. The girls showed resilience and worked hard to the end for each other and for me. There was some excellent turnovers throughout the court, but unfortunately 2nd place was all we could manage losing 6-3.

The girls should be proud of their performance today. Good day at the office.
